Kim Hye-kyung hosts May Mothers group at Blue House

Kim Hye-kyung hosted a luncheon and meeting at the Blue House on October 26 for current and former executives of the May Mothers House, an organization dedicated to the victims and families of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement.

During the meeting, Kim expressed deep respect for the women who worked to find detained family members and restore the honor of those lost during the 1980 movement. She noted that the gathering fulfilled a promise made during her visit to Gwangju last June to invite the group to Seoul once the presidential office arrangements were settled.

Participants, including Director Lee Chun-hee, discussed the need for historical preservation, specifically requesting support for recording the life histories of the aging members and establishing dedicated spaces for Gwangju women. The group also called for efforts to correct historical distortions regarding the May 18 movement.
