Kim Hye-seong viewed as key source of youth and speed for Dodgers
Local media outlets have identified LA Dodgers infielder Kim Hye-seong as a potential solution to the team’s aging roster. While some analysts previously expressed concerns regarding his role, Dodgers Nation suggests that Kim’s athleticism and defensive capabilities provide the youth and speed the organization currently lacks.
Despite his potential, Kim faced challenges during the current season, appearing in 43 Major League games with a .259 batting average, a .323 on-base percentage, and one home run. His performance in Triple-A also showed room for improvement, as he struggled with strikeout rates. To secure a more permanent role, analysts suggest he must improve his plate discipline by increasing his walk rate, reducing strikeouts, and increasing in-play contact.
With veteran players like Miguel Rojas retiring and Kiké Hernández entering free agency, opportunities for Kim to compete for playing time are increasing. His ability to develop into a high-contact, high-speed asset—similar to Tampa Bay Rays’ Chandler Simpson—could provide the Dodgers with a vital new offensive option as they look toward the 2027 season.
