Kim Hye Soo returns in new series 'The Affair was the Beginning

South Korean actress Kim Hye Soo, 56, is set to star as influencer‑CEO Kyung Hee in the upcoming black‑comedy drama "The Affair was the Beginning". The series, produced by Coupang Play and directed by Lee Chang Hee—known for "The Stranger from Hell" (2019) and "The Paradox of the Murderer" (2024)—will premiere on July 31.

Kim described the role as challenging, noting her unfamiliarity with the influencer world and her involvement in designing the character’s wardrobe. She also highlighted her fitness routine, including underwater exercises, to maintain a youthful appearance for the part. Co‑star Kim Ji‑Hoon disclosed that Kim Hye Soo personally funded some of the character’s fashion to ensure it matched the influencer aesthetic. The plot follows the seemingly perfect influencer couple and their neighboring doctors, whose lives become entangled in affairs, divorce, and deeper secrets.
