Kim Hyun-joo stars in psychological thriller ‘Paradise Lost’

The psychological thriller film ‘Paradise Lost’ is scheduled for release on October 21. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, the story follows Ryu So-young, a mother who lost her son in a camping school bus disappearance nine years ago. The plot centers on the tension and confusion that arise when her son, Ryu Sun-woo, miraculously returns after being presumed dead.

Lead actress Kim Hyun-joo portrays the complex emotional journey of a mother navigating grief, relief, and growing fear as her returned son appears strangely unfamiliar. Director Yeon Sang-ho praised Kim’s performance, noting that her ability to convey subtle, contradictory emotions was essential to making the film’s high-concept premise believable.

In recent interviews, Kim also expressed gratitude toward her colleagues from the tvN drama ‘100 Days of Lies,’ including actor Jin Sun-kyu, who supported the film’s VIP premiere. Kim noted the strong professional bonds formed during her previous projects.
