Kim Jae-seop criticizes Democratic Party song choice at convention

People Power Party lawmaker Kim Jae-seop has criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for playing the song ‘Bus An-eseo’ (Inside the Bus) by Jaja during its recent national convention. Kim argued that the song choice was a mockery of young people, as the track has become an online meme used to ridicule the ‘Bus House’ controversy.

The ‘Bus House’ issue originated from a proposal by Democratic Party lawmaker Hwang Hee to convert old buses into housing for university students, a plan that was later withdrawn following public backlash. Kim stated that playing the song during a celebratory event was akin to ‘throwing stones back at the youth’ and questioned the party's sincerity regarding youth welfare.

The Reform Party also joined the criticism, describing the song selection as ‘political tea-bagging’ and a provocation that mocks the reality of young people who spend hours commuting on buses due to high housing costs.
