Kim Ji-won to star in Korean adaptation of ‘Doctor X’
The South Korean medical noir series ‘Doctor X: Mafia in White’ is set to premiere on SBS and Netflix on October 9, 2026. Starring Kim Ji-won, the drama is an adaptation of the popular Japanese franchise ‘Doctor-X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon’.
In this version, Kim Ji-won portrays Gye Soo-jung, a brilliant and enigmatic surgeon who refuses to compromise or fail. The story follows her as she navigates the power struggles, corruption, and rigid hierarchies within Guseo University Hospital.
Director Lee Jung-rim stated that while the production respects the original Japanese framework, it incorporates ‘Korean essence’ and emotions to better suit local viewers and the different medical systems. The cast also includes Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo, and Kim Woo-seok. This marks Kim Ji-won’s first major role in a medical-themed production.
