Kim Ji Won to star in medical noir drama Doctor X

SBS is set to premiere the medical noir drama ‘Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia’ on October 9. The series, based on a popular Japanese production, stars Kim Ji Won as Gye Su Jeong, a brilliant freelance surgeon known as ‘Doctor X’ who uses her exceptional skills to combat corruption within the medical establishment.

Kim Ji Won’s character is described as a surgeon obsessed with operating who refuses to compromise or accept failure. She is supported by Lee Jung Eun, who plays Jang Hee Sook, the head of a medical staffing agency. The two characters share a complex, contractual partnership that functions with a deep, family-like bond.

Promotional materials, including a Marie Claire pictorial and behind-the-scenes clips, have highlighted the chemistry between the lead actresses. The drama marks Kim Ji Won’s first television return in two years following her role in ‘Queen of Tears’.
