Kim Jong-cheol inaugurated as Incheon Free Economic Zone Commissioner

Kim Jong-cheol has been inaugurated as the 9th Commissioner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ). During his inauguration ceremony held on the 18th at Songdo G-Tower, Kim outlined a vision to transform the zone into a strategic hub for global capital and innovation.

Kim emphasized a shift from development-centric investment attraction to a strategic approach that aligns with national industrial strategies and global supply chain shifts. He aims to create an innovation ecosystem where the technology and capital of global corporations connect with universities, research institutes, and startups to generate new industries and jobs.

Key objectives include expanding the IFEZ footprint by designating the southern part of Ganghwa as the first economic free zone in a border region. Additionally, Kim plans to bolster the competitiveness of Songdo, Yeongjong, and Cheongna, while developing K-culture and wellness tourism to drive regional economic growth. Following his ceremony, Kim conducted site visits to Amkor Technology Korea in Songdo and various development sites in Yeongjong and Cheongna to assess industrial investment status.
