Kim Jong-in warns of internal Democratic Party conflicts

Former People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chair Kim Jong-in has warned that internal friction within the Democratic Party could lead to a political collapse similar to the end of the Roh Moo-hyun administration.

Speaking on a YouTube channel, Kim noted that prominent progressive figures, including Rhyu Si-min, Kim Eo-jun, Choo Mi-ae, and Jung Chung-rae, appear to be challenging President Lee Jae-myung. Kim suggested these figures may feel neglected by the current administration, drawing parallels to the era when Roh Moo-hyun left the Democratic Party to form the Uri Party, which ultimately led to political fragmentation.

Kim also expressed concern that the Democratic Party is focusing too heavily on immediate political situations rather than preparing for the 2028 general elections. He cautioned that if the party fails to maintain its majority in the next election, the current legislative dominance could be reversed by the opposition. Additionally, Kim warned that the party's influence in the Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas might weaken, potentially reducing its base back to the Honam region.
