Kim Jong Un calls for modernization of North Korean ideological campaigns

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for the modernization of the country’s propaganda and ideological campaigns to meet contemporary demands. Addressing the closing ceremony of a four-day workshop for information sector officials, Kim emphasized the need to update the “content, form, methods, and means” of ideological work.

Kim urged officials to innovate in information, public awareness, and cultural construction to ensure campaigns align with “the times, the revolution, and the expectations of the people.” A key focus of his directive was the use of “modern information and technological tools” to effectively block the spread of “reactionary ideological culture,” a move seen as an effort to strengthen defenses against external influences.

The workshop, the third of its kind since 2022, focused on ideological education based on Kim’s revolutionary ideas and the achievements of the Workers' Party of Korea. Participants were instructed to accelerate information and propaganda campaigns to implement decisions from the party’s ninth congress and to utilize visual aids more effectively to deliver information in a practical and impactful manner.
