Kim Jong Un marks 73rd Korean War armistice anniversary with daughter
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un paid respects at several war memorials on the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War armistice, visiting the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery, the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army cemetery. He laid flowers at the graves of first‑generation guerrilla fighters and honored Mao Anying, the son of Mao Zedong, signalling a warming of ties with China.
For the first time, Kim was accompanied by his teenage daughter Ju Ae, who walked beside him, greeted veterans and stood at the centre of ceremonial formations. South Korea’s Unification Ministry confirmed it was Ju Ae’s inaugural appearance at the armistice commemorations, and the South Korean National Intelligence Service assessed that she is being positioned as Kim’s potential successor.
