Kim Jong Un visits Korean War memorials on 73rd armistice anniversary

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, accompanied by his wife Ri Sol‑ju and daughter Kim Ju‑ae, visited several war‑related sites on July 26, the day before the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War armistice. He paid respects at the Patriotic Liberation War Veteran Memorial, the Daeseong‑san Revolutionary Martyrs’ Tomb, and the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army martyrs’ site that houses the remains of Mao Anying, the late son of Mao Zedong.

Kim placed flowers, offered tributes and delivered remarks praising the sacrifice of Korean and Chinese fighters, underscoring the historic friendship between North Korea and China. A senior delegation of party and military officials, including Kim Song‑nam, Ju Chang‑il, Foreign Minister Choi Sun‑hee and Defense officials, accompanied the visit. Compared with the previous year, the ceremony featured a larger delegation and longer media coverage, highlighting an effort to reinforce the bilateral relationship.
