Kim Min-jong withdraws defamation lawsuit against MC Mong

Actor and singer Kim Min-jong has withdrawn his criminal defamation complaint against MC Mong (Shin Dong-hyun). The legal representative for Kim, Law Firm O'Kims, announced that the complaint filed with the Jongno Police Station on September 1 was withdrawn on September 9.

The decision follows a direct apology from MC Mong during a TikTok live broadcast, where he admitted that mentioning Kim Min-jong was a mistake and acknowledged he had criticized Kim without verifying the facts. Kim Min-jong had previously suffered financial and mental damages, including the suspension of a Hollywood project and advertising contracts, due to the allegations.

Kim stated that while the past four months caused significant harm, he chose to accept the apology and provide a second chance to his junior colleague, noting that embracing people is more meaningful than pursuing legal battles. The legal team clarified that the withdrawal does not negate the damages suffered but serves to conclude the dispute following the public admission of wrongdoing.
