The Democratic Party of Korea is conducting its national convention to elect a new leadership team for a two-year term. As of the conclusion of the regional primary rounds, Kim Min-seok holds a significant lead in the party leadership race with a cumulative vote share of 49.91%, followed by Jung Chung-rae at 41.51%. Kim secured major victories in the Honam region and narrow wins in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas.

Because no candidate has yet secured an absolute majority, the final result will be determined on August 17 at the Daejeon Convention Center. The final tally will combine the results of the delegate and party member votes (70%) with public opinion polls (30%). If no candidate achieves over 50% in the final count, a preferential voting system will be applied to determine the winner.

In the Supreme Council race, candidates are also in close competition. Park Sun-won has emerged as a frontrunner with a 17.70% cumulative share, slightly ahead of Choi Min-hee. The race is characterized by intense factional competition between the 'pro-Jung Chung-rae' and 'pro-Lee Jae-myung' groups. Notably, candidates Im Mi-ae and Kim Young-ho have withdrawn from the Supreme Council race to endorse Kim Yong, aiming to consolidate support for his candidacy.
