Kim Min-seok addresses prosecution reform and judicial appointment disputes
Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok has addressed several key political issues, including calls for restraint within the party regarding prosecution reform to protect presidential leadership. Kim suggested that the party should control excessive demands from hardliners to focus on livelihood reforms and avoid undermining the administration.
Regarding the judiciary, Kim criticized Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae, stating that if the Chief Justice cannot handle the issue of re-nominating Supreme Court candidates, he should resign. This follows Cho's refusal to comply with requests from the Blue House regarding candidate nominations.
On social policy, Kim proposed a major overhaul of the military service exemption system for athletes. He noted that the concept of national prestige has changed and suggested that the National Assembly review whether to abolish the system or limit it to specific sports or professional athletes.
Additionally, Kim is involved in a legal dispute where a YouTuber has filed a complaint against him for allegedly unauthorized disclosure of party member information. The police have begun investigating the allegations of personal information protection law violations.
