Kim Yeon-koung targets professional club founding for Wonder Dogs

Volleyball star Kim Yeon-koung has returned for the second season of the MBC program ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung’, with the primary goal of establishing the ‘Wonder Dogs’ as a professional eighth volleyball club. Following the success of the first season, the production team has established a volleyball club management office within the broadcasting station and sought consultation from the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) to realistically evaluate the conditions for founding a new professional team.

Despite facing challenges such as the departure of key players like Lee Na-yeon and Pyo Seung-ju to professional leagues, Kim has begun rebuilding the roster. A recent tryout resulted in the selection of 13 players, including Baek Chae-rim, Lee Ye-eun, and In-kusi, to form the new squad. The team’s upcoming schedule includes matches against prominent clubs such as Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders and Hyundai Hillstate, as well as an international rematch against Japan’s Shujitsu High School volleyball team.

The season premiere recorded a 3.0% viewership rating, ranking first among Sunday entertainment programs in its time slot.
