Kim Yeon-koung's Wonder Dogs face Japanese high school powerhouse

In the second episode of the MBC variety program ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’, the ‘Wonder Dogs’ team, led by coach Kim Yeon-koung, faced a rematch against Japan’s top high school volleyball team, Shujitsu High School.

Seeking revenge for a previous loss, Kim implemented a more rigorous training system focused on speed volleyball. However, the team struggled early in the match, losing the first set 25-18 due to strong performances from Shujitsu’s Yukiji Onishi and various unforced errors by the Wonder Dogs.

To counter a 10-point deficit, Kim made a strategic substitution by bringing in legendary opposite spiker Hwang Yeon-ju. Hwang immediately impacted the game with touch-outs and blocks, providing a momentum shift for the team. The episode, which saw viewership ratings rise to 5%, concluded on a cliffhanger regarding whether the Wonder Dogs would successfully complete their comeback.
