Kim Yo Jong issues military warning to Japan
Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued a statement through the Korean Central News Agency containing strong military warnings toward Japan.
Kim stated that North Korea views Japan as a potential long-term threat and is closely monitoring what she described as Japan’s attempts at “military expansion.” She asserted that North Korean military leadership has begun considering strategies to deter, suppress, or otherwise manage threats from Japan as part of its military doctrine.
The statement warned that if Japan makes a “wrong choice,” it would face an “immediate and unsurvivable devastating blow.” The rhetoric suggests that North Korea may consider preemptive strikes in response to perceived Japanese military buildup or actions that the North Korean leadership deems threatening to the regional balance of power.
