Kim Yong-min receives 2026 JW Seongcheon Award

The JW Lee Jong-ho Foundation has awarded Professor Emeritus Kim Yong-min of Chungbuk National University Medical School the 14th JW Seongcheon Award. The award includes a plaque and 100 million won.

Since retiring from his professorship in 2018, Kim has dedicated himself to medical relief work in conflict zones and medically underserved areas, including the Gaza Strip, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. He has provided emergency care for gunshot wounds, trauma, and infections, while also working to establish local medical independence.

In countries such as Tanzania and Uzbekistan, Kim has performed complex surgeries using his own funds and provided technical training to local medical staff. He also supported the costs for local doctors to undergo training in South Korea. Domestically, Kim continues to provide free medical services to the urban poor and foreign workers at Joseph Clinic and Raphael Clinic.
