Kim Yong-min refutes President Lee's criticism of political motives

Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-min has responded to criticisms from President Lee Jae-myung regarding the motivations of hardline reformers within the ruling camp. Kim stated on social media that his entry into politics was driven by specific goals, such as prosecution and judicial reform, rather than a desire for positions of power.

Kim emphasized that he is working alongside colleagues to create a fair society and noted that he would continue his efforts even if he were to lose his current authority as a member of the National Assembly.

This rebuttal follows a post by President Lee on X (formerly Twitter), in which he criticized individuals who he claimed demand high-ranking positions without sufficient ability and use radical reform as a pretext for internal attacks when they fail to influence personnel or national policy. The President's comments were widely interpreted as targeting hardline reformers, including Kim and Gyeonggi Governor Choo Mi-ae, who have opposed the appointment of Kim Ji-yong as the head of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency.
