Kim Yu-jin wins silver at World Taekwondo Grand Prix

Paris Olympics gold medalist Kim Yu-jin secured a silver medal in the women’s -57kg category at the 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix held at Muju Taekwondowon. Kim faced Brazil’s Maria Clara Pacheco in the final, losing by a round score of 0-2 (0-5, 2-8). This marks Kim’s fourth consecutive loss to Pacheco in major competitions, including the Wuxi World Championships and the Rome Grand Prix.

In the women’s -67kg category, Kwak Min-ju earned a bronze medal after losing her semifinal match to China’s Xing Jiani. Xing Jiani went on to win the gold medal by defeating Spain’s Lena Moreno Reyes. In the men’s -80kg division, Raman Turabinau of Belarus took first place after defeating CJ Nicholas of the United States.

The South Korean national taekwondo team will now shift its focus to the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where five athletes from both the men’s and women’s divisions are scheduled to compete.
