Kimberly Polman pleads guilty to terrorism charge in B.C

Kimberly Polman, a woman from Squamish, British Columbia, has pleaded guilty to a terrorism-related charge in a Vancouver court. The charge involves leaving Canada to participate in the activities of a terrorist group, specifically the Islamic State.

Polman married an ISIS fighter over a decade ago and moved to Syria. She spent nearly four years in a Syrian detention camp before being repatriated to Canada in 2022. Her family has noted that she has faced health challenges, including hepatitis and post-traumatic stress, and expressed concerns that she may be a target of the terrorist group.

The maximum sentence for this specific offense is 10 years in prison. Polman entered her guilty plea one month before her trial was scheduled to begin.
