Formula 1 announces 2027 calendar with 10 Sprint races

Formula 1 has officially announced its 2027 calendar, which will consist of 24 Grand Prix races across 22 countries. A major highlight of the upcoming season is the expansion of the Sprint race format, increasing from six to ten events per season. Notable venues hosting Sprint races for the first time include Monaco, Bahrain, Australia, Japan, and Abu Dhabi.

The 2027 season is scheduled to begin in Bahrain on March 12 and will conclude in Abu Dhabi on December 12. The new calendar marks the return of the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park and the Portuguese Grand Prix at the Algarve circuit, both of which have not been on the schedule since 2021.

While the calendar maintains its 24-race structure, some historic venues are seeing changes. For instance, the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit will be replaced by a rotating schedule with Spa-Francorchamps, and Zandvoort will no longer be part of the championship. F1 leadership noted that the expansion of Sprint races is a response to high fan demand and increased viewership data.
