The clip went viral on social media and was dubbed “Handtuch‑Gate”. A few days later, in Barcelona, Antonelli was presented with a similar white towel tied with a ribbon in his Mercedes garage. The towel bore the inscription “For Kimi from Kim”. Antonelli thanked Kardashian, placed the towel over his shoulders and rode away on a scooter, while the Formula 1 organization shared the footage.

The incident attracted widespread attention online but had no impact on the race results or the driver’s standing in the championship.
