KIMM unveils KAIROS V0.7 AI humanoid robot

The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) has unveiled KAIROS V0.7, an upgraded version of its Korean-style AI humanoid robot. During the 2026 Global Mechanical Technology Forum, the robot demonstrated enhanced full-body movement capabilities, including dynamic motions inspired by traditional mask dance, marking a significant improvement in walking and posture control since its initial release in April.

KAIROS utilizes visual and tactile sensors combined with artificial intelligence to perceive environments and perform tasks such as movement, manipulation, and interaction. The development roadmap aims to release KAIROS V1 by April 2027 and an advanced V2 by 2030, with the long-term goal of establishing a domestic humanoid industrial ecosystem by 2035. This initiative aligns with government plans to invest 2.3 trillion won into the humanoid ecosystem by 2030.

In a related development, SPG announced that its precision reducers have been integrated into the standard driving modules of KAIROS. The components are installed in the robot's waist, hip, and ankle joints. This collaboration follows a previous agreement to develop actuators for the Korean humanoid, aiming to provide standardized parts to domestic robot companies as the KAIROS platform expands.
