Kinaree expands bathroom range with petrified wood washbasins

Kinaree, a specialist in handmade solid wood furniture and home accessories, has expanded its bathroom collection to include washbasins made from petrified wood. These unique vessels are crafted from fossilized tree trunks sourced from Indonesia.

The petrification process occurs when tree trunks are encased under sediment, allowing mineral-rich water to replace the organic structure over millions of years while preserving original grain and growth rings. The raw materials are processed in small workshops on Java, where each trunk is hand-hollowed, polished, and sealed.

Available in various sizes, including XXL versions up to 70 centimeters wide and 45 kilograms, each basin is a unique specimen. Owner Alexandra Hähnel noted, “At petrified wood, nature decides on form and color – we just select them.” The products are available for purchase online or at the company's furniture store in Zschopau, Germany.
