Kinderboekenweek 2026 celebrates reading and performing arts in the Netherlands

The 2026 Kinderboekenweek (Children's Book Week) in the Netherlands is taking place from September 30 to October 11, centered around the theme ‘Spot aan!’ (Lights On!). This annual campaign, organized by the CPNB, focuses on theater, song, dance, and storytelling to inspire children to enjoy reading.

Various institutions are hosting themed activities. The Literatuurmuseum/Kinderboekenmuseum is offering theater masterclasses, workshops, and performances. Bibliotheek De Domijnen is hosting events across multiple locations, including puppet theater and singing workshops. In Zwolle, the Stadkamer will host the Groot Zwols Kinderboekenfeest on October 11, featuring music and green-screen acting opportunities for children.

Retailers and bookstores, such as De Kandelaar, are also participating by highlighting Christian children's books and offering special promotional titles during the event period.
