Kinenova Film Festival opens with focus on youth violence

The 11th edition of the Kinenova International Film Festival has launched under the motto ‘To the First Light’. The festival opened with the film ‘Three Weeks Later’ by Miroslav Terzić, which explores violence among youth and the social environments in which high school students grow up. Director Nebojša Jovanović noted that the film addresses how violence can become a daily language of expression for young people.

The main program features six feature films, including works by Salem Salavati, Rakan Mayasi, Kukla Kešerović, Erke Džumakmatova, and Hristo Simeonov. The selection emphasizes female perspectives and stories of vulnerable groups. Turkish director Emin Alper will attend as a guest and laureate, with his debut film ‘Behind the Ridge’ scheduled for screening.

Albania is the featured country this year with three titles, and the program also includes international short films and selections from the Drama Film Festival in Greece. Beyond screenings, the festival includes a children's workshop titled ‘Shoot Smart, Leave a Trace’ in collaboration with the Kisela Voda Municipality.
