Kinergy Advancement and Genesis Energy report divergent financial results

Kinergy Advancement Bhd, a Malaysian sustainable energy provider, reported a 39.4% year-on-year increase in net profit for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, reaching RM9.05 million. Revenue for the period rose 12% to RM109.38 million. The company’s Sustainable Energy Solutions segment was the primary driver, accounting for over 80% of total revenue. For the first half of FY2026, Kinergy’s net profit grew 29% to RM16.43 million.

In New Zealand, Genesis Energy reported a 50% decrease in annual net profit to $85 million, primarily due to a $123 million negative fair-value movement on financial instruments such as electricity swaps and options. However, normalized operating earnings rose 11% to $522 million, supported by strong retail margins and favorable hydro conditions. The company recently completed a $400 million capital raise to support a planned $3 billion investment in new products and services over the next five years.
