King Abdullah II condemns Israeli incursions into Syria

Jordanian King Abdullah II has condemned Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, reaffirming Jordan’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. During a meeting in Aqaba with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, the leaders discussed regional security and the need for coordination to stabilize the region.

The diplomatic efforts coincide with recent Israeli military activity in southern Syria. Israeli forces reportedly killed a man with a disability during an incursion into Jamla village in the Daraa province. This follows previous artillery shelling in the Yarmouk Basin area. Since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, Israel has conducted repeated strikes and ground incursions into southwestern Syria, moving into areas beyond the Golan Heights.

In Damascus, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa met with US special envoy Tom Barrack to discuss political and security developments. Barrack previously called for an end to Israeli incursions to prevent a wider regional conflict. Meanwhile, Syria and Jordan have reaffirmed their commitment to a US-backed trilateral roadmap intended to resolve the crisis in Syria’s Sweida province.
