King Charles confronts title controversy and mounting tension with Prince Harry

The monarch's recent alteration of the royal style from “Defender of the Faith” to “Protector of the space for faith within the multifaith nation” has prompted outspoken criticism from former Anglican clergy, notably Gavin Ashenden, who calls it a betrayal of Christian faith and an attack on Jesus' authority. The Christian Institute also warned that the change dilutes Christianity’s role in national culture.

At the same time, King Charles has reportedly lost patience with Prince Harry over logistical disputes surrounding Harry's planned visit to the United Kingdom. Harry was initially offered accommodation in a royal residence but later had to stay elsewhere after last‑minute changes, with security concerns and a risk assessment cited. Palace staff have said the king’s tolerance has been exceeded, highlighting a strained relationship between father and son.
