King Charles congratulates United States on 250th Independence anniversary

King Charles addressed President Donald Trump with a formal message marking the United States' 250th anniversary of independence. In the letter, the monarch praised the historic milestone, recalled the two‑and‑a‑half‑century relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, and highlighted cooperation in defence, security, trade, investment, science, education, culture and the arts. He also emphasized a shared responsibility to protect the natural environment. The message was sent during the British state visit in April, which included a White House banquet, a joint address to Congress and a street‑party in Virginia. The king’s remarks underline the enduring diplomatic ties between the two nations.
