King Charles III allegedly requested name change for Catherine

A new biography by author Christopher Andersen, titled ‘Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen’, claims that King Charles III and Queen Camilla requested that Catherine, Princess of Wales, change the spelling of her first name.

According to the book, the monarch and Queen Camilla were concerned that having a third royal cypher featuring the letter ‘C’ would be “overkill,” as both Charles and Camilla already possess interlocking ‘C’ monograms. The suggestion was to change the spelling from ‘Catherine’ to ‘Katherine’.

The request reportedly caused significant tension within the Royal Family. Prince William is said to have been “fuming” and described the proposal as “insulting” to both his wife and her family. The request was ultimately not accepted, and the Princess retained her original baptismal spelling.
