King Charles III hosts Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at Balmoral

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew held a private meeting with King Charles III at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The encounter, which was originally scheduled to last thirty minutes, was extended to one hour.

According to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the meeting took place in a “very cordial and friendly atmosphere.” The King hosted the Patriarch at his personal summer residence and personally escorted him to the castle exit upon his departure.

This marks the second meeting between the two leaders since Charles III's accession to the British throne. The Patriarch was accompanied by Bishop Raphael of Ilia and Grand Exarch Aetios.
