King Charles strips ten individuals of British honors in 2026

King Charles III has ordered the revocation of honours for ten people in 2026 after a review by an advisory committee. The removals target individuals whose conduct was deemed incompatible with the integrity of the honours system. Among the most prominent cases is former Northern Irish politician Jeffrey Donaldson, who lost his Knight Bachelor after being convicted of multiple sexual offences against children. Former Scottish rugby captain Stuart Hogg also had his honour withdrawn after admitting to domestic‑violence offences. Other revocations include a wildlife‑sanctuary operator, several entrepreneurs and medical professionals. The king explained that "Ehrenauszeichnungen werden verliehen, um herausragende Dienste und Leistungen anzuerkennen, und jeder, der wegen schwerer Straftaten verurteilt wurde, hat das Privileg, sie zu besitzen, verwirkt." The moves are intended to preserve public confidence in the British honours system.
