King Diamond joins My Chemical Romance on stage in San Antonio

Danish heavy metal musician King Diamond made a surprise appearance during a My Chemical Romance concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on September 12. During a performance of the song “Mama,” frontman Gerard Way introduced King Diamond to the stage alongside opera singer Marianne.

King Diamond appeared without his traditional corpse paint, wearing sunglasses, a top hat, and a black bishop’s coat. The performance concluded with a theatrical ceremony in which King Diamond knighted the members of My Chemical Romance amidst pyrotechnics.

During the event, Gerard Way also suggested that My Chemical Romance may record a new studio album, noting that the band has long desired to create another full-length record, which would be their first in over 15 years.
