King Edward VI Community College to hold public meeting on land sale
King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC) in Totnes will host a public meeting on Tuesday, November 10, to discuss proposals to sell portions of its land. The school intends to reinvest the proceeds into refurbishing and modernizing its estate, including buildings and facilities.
The plan follows approval from the Department for Education. Education South West (ESW) confirmed it is proceeding with the sale despite renewed protests from the Friends of the Lower Field, a group campaigning to keep the land as a community asset.
School officials stated that existing sports facilities, such as the all-weather pitch and adjacent grass areas, will be retained for community use. KEVICC principal Alan Salt emphasized a commitment to transparency regarding how the sale will impact students and the local community.
