King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia host summer reception for 600 guests in Mallorca
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia opened the summer season at the Marivent Palace in Palma de Mallorca, welcoming about 600 representatives of Balearic civil society. The royal family—joined by Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofia and former Queen Sofia—greeted guests individually, beginning with the president of the Spanish Congress, Francina Armengol, and the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, before meeting artists, entrepreneurs and sports figures.
The evening featured a 15‑course Mediterranean menu prepared by renowned Mallorcan chefs Marga Coll, Maca de Castro and Santi Taura, highlighting local specialties such as tumbet, sobrasada tortilla, escabeche eggplant with Mahón cheese and Mallorcan veal. Guests chose from desserts including almond‑rosemary sweets, peanut meringue and the traditional Ibiza flaó, paired with Balearic wines and cava. The royal family’s attire was noted for its relaxed style, with King Felipe in a blue linen shirt and Queen Letizia in a white striped dress.
