King Felipe VI starts summer vacation in Mallorca, meets Baleares officials

King Felipe VI arrived in Mallorca to begin his traditional summer institutional agenda. He held an audience at the Palacio Real de la Almudaina with the principal Baleares authorities: President of the Consell de Mallorca Llorenç Galmés, President of the Govern Marga Prohens, President of the Parlament Gabriel Le Senne and the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez.

During the meeting Mayor Martínez announced that the king has been formally invited to attend the 800th‑anniversary celebrations of the conquest of Mallorca by Jaume I, scheduled for 2029. He said, "We will do everything possible for the king to be present," though a confirmation has not yet been given.

The royal family, accompanied by Queen Letizia and their daughters, will also participate in other engagements, including a forthcoming investiture ceremony in Peru and a sailing training session for the Copa del Rey Mapfre de Vela. The visit underscores the Spanish Crown’s continued commitment to the Balearic Islands.
