King Felipe VI to visit Ceuta, Melilla, and Finland
King Felipe VI of Spain has scheduled a royal visit to the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla for October 13. This marks the monarch's first visit to these territories since his proclamation in 2014, and the first visit to Melilla since 2007. The trip occurs amid diplomatic tensions with Morocco following a significant migration crisis in which over 80,000 migrants entered Ceuta from Moroccan territory.
Separately, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will conduct their first State visit to Finland from October 5 to 7. The itinerary includes official ceremonies in Helsinki with President Alexander Stubb and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, as well as a trip to Rovaniemi in Lapland. The visit will feature a business forum focused on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and quantum technology, highlighting economic and technological cooperation between Spain and Finland.
