King Haakon begins duties amid Queen Mette-Marit's health recovery
Following the passing of King Harald, King Haakon of Norway faces a demanding schedule of official duties and travels, including upcoming trips to Narvik and Finnmark. However, he will be performing many of these tasks without Queen Mette-Marit by his side due to her ongoing health challenges.
The Royal House has announced that Queen Mette-Marit is currently in rehabilitation following a lung transplant performed earlier this summer. As a result, she will not have an official program and will be stepping back from public duties until next summer.
Medical experts note that rehabilitation after a lung transplant can take up to a year, as patients must manage immunosuppressant medications that increase the risk of infection. While the Queen has made several public appearances recently, her official schedule is being reduced to prioritize her recovery.
