King Harald and Queen Sonja to visit three Trøndelag municipalities in September

King Harald and Queen Sonja will undertake a regional tour of Trøndelag from 31 August to 3 September 2026. The royal couple will arrive in Stjørdal on 31 August, board the royal ship and sail to Orkland municipality on 1 September, where they will be welcomed in Orkanger by schoolchildren and a marching band.

The itinerary continues with visits to the municipalities of Rindal and Høylandet, a stop in Namsos, and concludes at the road‑less Gjefsjøen mountain farm in Snåsa, one of four such farms in the Snåsa mountains. The farm remains inhabited and operates both traditional farming and tourism.

The tour follows a recent visit to Beiarn and leaves only two municipalities—Nissedal and Siljan in Telemark—yet to receive a royal visit. Queen Sonja missed the earlier Vestland tour due to a heart condition, but has returned to public duties, opening a summer exhibition at Trondheim Kunstmuseum.
