King Mswati III praises Eswatini student for SADC essay win

King Mswati III has praised Vuyelwa Simelane, a student at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), for winning first place in the SADC Essay Competition. The King noted that her achievement brings recognition to the Kingdom of Eswatini on a regional stage, noting that such top honors have historically been dominated by other nations.

In addition to the King's commendation, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development held an awards ceremony to recognize several Eswatini students for their excellence in the regional competition. Vuyelwa Simelane was honored for her top position, while fellow UNESWA student Mefika Mhlanga was also recognized in the tertiary category.

In the secondary school category, Hlelolwenkhosi Simelane, Lenhle Khumalo, and Bhekiwe Tsabedze received monetary awards for their performances. Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo congratulated the winners, emphasizing that their success demonstrates the potential of Eswatini's youth when talent is paired with determination.
