Kinga Rusin faces altitude sickness and border search in Kyrgyzstan

Polish journalist Kinga Rusin reported experiencing significant difficulties during a recent trip to Kyrgyzstan. While traveling through high-altitude border regions, such as the Enilchek area, Rusin suffered from altitude sickness. She noted that her oxygen saturation levels dropped below 83 percent several times, requiring the use of oxygen tanks.

The medical necessity of frequent stops and the use of oxygen equipment drew the attention of local authorities. Rusin stated that a military patrol observed her and her partner through binoculars. Following this observation, border guards conducted a search of their bags and trash, as well as an interrogation. The authorities reportedly suspected the travelers were arriving from China and were scrutinizing their passports for border stamps.
