Kingdom Hearts 4 developers reveal massive script and dedicated lore specialist
Developers of the upcoming role-playing game Kingdom Hearts 4 have revealed that the title's script is nearly twice the size of Kingdom Hearts 3. Game Director Tetsuya Nomura and Co-Director Tai Yasue shared these details during an interview following a presentation at Disney's D23 event.
Due to the immense complexity of the series' lore and the growing number of characters, the development team utilizes a dedicated “Story Master.” This specialist is responsible for organizing the series' mythology and ensuring narrative consistency. Disney reportedly requested this individual's assistance to explain the complex settings and scenarios to their team, utilizing diagrams to clarify the intricate plot points.
In addition to the expanded narrative, the developers confirmed that the English localization is approximately 60 to 70 percent complete. The upcoming game is expected to feature new worlds, including one based on the film Coco.
