Kingfisher rescued in Kuşadası released back into the wild
A kingfisher that struck a wall and fell onto a balcony in the Hacıfeyzullah neighborhood of Kuşadası has been released back into the wild. The bird was discovered motionless by resident Didem Okyay, who secured it in a box and brought it to the Association for the Protection of Ecosystems and Nature Lovers (EKODOSD).
Upon examination by EKODOSD President Bahattin Sürücü, it was determined that the bird had no physical injuries or wing damage but was suffering from stress due to the collision. After receiving care and nourishment for one day, the kingfisher was released into the Kocagöl wetland area in Güzelçamlı.
Sürücü noted that urbanization, traffic, and noise in coastal areas like Kuşadası pose significant risks to small, agile birds. He emphasized the importance of protecting wetlands and aquatic ecosystems to ensure the survival of species like the kingfisher, which rely on clean water to hunt.
