King’s College Lagos to be managed by Old Boys’ Association
The Nigerian Federal Government has approved the concession of the historic King’s College, Lagos, to the King’s College Old Boys’ Association (KCOBA). According to a directive from the Federal Ministry of Education, a transition committee has been established to oversee the management handover, which is expected to be completed within six months.
Once the transition is finalized, the college will cease to receive funding from the Federation Account. As part of the process, school authorities have been instructed to identify staff members who wish to remain employed by the Federal Civil Service Commission.
The announcement has led to immediate disruptions, as the school’s staff union has shut down the institution, creating uncertainty regarding the resumption of students. The Parent-Teacher Association is currently evaluating the situation to determine when the school can safely reopen.
