Kings of Convenience Perform Intimate Concert at Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera

The Norwegian indie‑folk duo Kings of Convenience returned to Italy for a sold‑out show at the historic Anfiteatro of the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera on 29 July. The concert was part of the XV edition of the Tener‑a‑mente Festival and featured the duo’s characteristic intimate vocal harmonies backed by a trio of strings – viola, double‑bass and cello – that added orchestral texture to songs from their back catalogue and latest album.

Set against the sunset over Lake Garda, the performance emphasized quiet nuance, with audience members turning off lights and smartphones to create a reverent atmosphere. The evening concluded with a poignant tribute to the late Irish singer‑songwriter Glen Hansard, whose recent death was honoured by a solo cello rendition.

The event highlighted the lasting appeal of Kings of Convenience’s subtle songwriting and demonstrated the Vittoriale’s capacity to host contemporary music in a historic setting.
