Kingsbridge reopens Fore Street following early culvert completion

Kingsbridge Town Council has announced that Fore Street will reopen at 10am on Friday, August 14, following the completion of a culvert restoration project. The engineering work, described as an exceptionally complex challenge, was finished three weeks ahead of schedule.

A community celebration is planned to mark the reopening, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mayor Cllr Julia Wingate and contract manager Bro Potter. The event will include a welcome from Town Crier Roger Pinder and a procession of classic cars and emergency service vehicles.

To assist the transition, Devon County Council and South Hams District Council have agreed to extend free parking at Quay Car Park and Fore Street Car Park until August 31. Mayor Wingate noted that the restored culvert is intended to ensure the long-term stability and resilience of the local infrastructure.
