Kinmen Bridge to undergo traffic control for disaster rescue drill

Kinmen County will conduct a major land traffic accident disaster prevention and rescue drill to enhance emergency response capabilities. The exercise, organized in coordination with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, focuses on a simulated multi-vehicle collision on the Kinmen Bridge caused by low visibility from fog.

The scenario includes a bus and a fuel tanker overturning and catching fire, resulting in multiple injuries and potential persons in the water. The drill aims to verify command coordination, casualty treatment, road clearance, and alternative transportation mechanisms.

A tabletop exercise is scheduled for October 5, followed by a live field drill on October 6. During the live drill, the Kinmen Bridge will be closed to traffic, and alternative ferry services via Jiugong and Shuitou piers will be activated to maintain essential transport between the islands.
