Kinmen County honors 18 model seniors

Kinmen County held an award ceremony on October 3 to honor 18 model seniors, aiming to promote the traditional virtues of respecting and caring for the elderly. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Lung-an presented the awards on behalf of the county government.

The honorees were recognized for their contributions to their families and communities, including long-term dedication to household management and local affairs. The oldest recipient was 90-year-old Wu Miao-cai. The event included performances by a local unicycle team to symbolize intergenerational exchange.

In conjunction with the Double Ninth Festival, the Social Affairs Department will continue activities throughout October to visit and care for seniors aged 90 and above, as well as centenarians, to encourage community-wide care for the elderly.
